Little Light Preschool is a ministry of Heart of the Canyons Church. The aim of Little Light is to provide a loving and nurturing Christian Perspective that will foster positive self-esteem and a child's acceptance of his or her role in life at home, at school, at play, and at church.
Current Programs:
Beginner
Our beginner program is designed to maximize each child's individual growth by introducing a developmentally appropriate balance of spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical activities. An emphasis is placed on exploring and playing together as our 2's start their understanding of socially appropriate behavior. This year is an important time for children to grow in their independence. When your child is ready, his/her teacher will work with you to successfully help in the potty-training process. Our 2's are also introduced to a weekly Bible Story.
Intermediate
Our intermediate classes use developmentally appropriate activities in our "center" based curriculum. The explorations of early learning skills include the areas of dramatic play, language, math, science, and art. An emphasis is placed on cooperative play as children practice appropriate social behaviors. This is an important time to foster a love of learning, using a variety of hands on manipulatives, the children gain confidence and many problem solving skills. Pre-Kindergarden
Our Pre-K program provides a wide variety of planned activities centered on preparing 4 year olds to excel in Kindergarten. Using the Handwriting Without Tears program, along with many other skill-building manipulatives, children have the opportunity to develop at their own pace and have fun learning many new academic skills. Additional activities include, art, science, math, language/phonetic skills, gross and fine motor skill that encourage children to stay on task leading them toward independence. Our Pre-K students also devote a portion of their day in Bible Time, where they "read" from their own Bible.
